Inspiring the Next Generation of Canadian Aviators from Coast to Coast!

Airshow Atlantic - June 2025

The Atlantic Airshow was held in Summerside, PEI this year, marking the furthest East the Foundation has flown the Beechcraft Sundowner. The show was highlighted by meeting NAV CANADA, RCAF, 1 CAD, and COPA pilots with memorable and hilarious stories, fresh seafood from locals, and many young Canadians who were inspired by our single engine trainer. Our thanks and gratitude are extended to the organizers of the show who welcomed us with Canadian humour and kindness. Thank you for supporting our efforts and see you again next year!

Abbotsford Airshow - August 2025

This year marked the first time the Foundation was present in BC where we met memorable Canadian RCAF N.A. Navion pilots from the wolfpack, the Canadian wing-walking team from California (second row, left), and our lone woman snowbird pilot holding up a streamer sliced by the wing of a precision woman aerobatic pilot. We also had the incredible opportunity of meeting Madison Treherne in person, one of our Night Rating Scholars from last year! (second row, right) We express our thanks to the pilots and organizers for another superb show and to the Flying Club for hosting the classic airshow weekend pancake breakfast, as we look forward to developing our presence next year.

Aéro Gatineau/Ottawa - September 2025

The family vibe of this event is enjoyed every year we attend. It was a pleasure for us to meet with retired commercial and RCAF pilots, Vintage Wings Canada aerobatic formation pilots, and Northern Lights Foundation representatives. New relationships with potential sponsors and donors were established, exchanging experiences with NAV CANADA and ROTAX representatives was enjoyed, and meeting with potential applicants and young pilots that want to accomplish big dreams was inspirational. Many thanks to the organizers for creating an environment where all this is possible.

London Skydive - September 2025

The breadth and depth of the static and aerobatic program of the London airshow is impressive and unique in Canada. We met with ALPA, 1CAD, CF-18 demo teams and NAV CANADA to further develop our relationships and made time with friends and family back in Southern Ontario. Congratulations to the show organizers for having mobilized so many pilots from across N. America, highlighting the strong friendly bonds we share with those across the border, and a warm hello to all those that enjoyed the energetic atmosphere of downtown on Saturday night.

Meeting and Congratulations from the Canadian Snowbirds

As part of the Manitoba Airshow, we had the honour of spending time with the Canadian Snowbirds Demonstration Team, Canada's military acrobatic flight demonstration team. We were congratulated on our mission to inspire and give wings to the next generation of Canadian pilots and on our flight across Canada. A huge thanks to all Snowbirds members, past and present, for making this happen - the weekend was a privilege of a lifetime!

Presenting at Canada's National Aviation and Space Museum

On July 25-26 2024, our founder Lucas Dejmek was invited as a guest speaker to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. He shared tales and adventures from the flight as well as breathtaking images of Canada from the sky before holding a hands-on activity in which attendees could try on his flying headset, listen to pilots on the radio, play with maps and instruments, and take photos! We thank the museum for their incredible hospitality and cannot wait to be back next year!

Exclusive visit of the Last Airworthy Canadian WWII Lancaster Bomber

We were honoured to be invited aboard the last airworthy Canadian WWII Lancaster Bomber! This legendary aircraft played a vital role during WWII, renowned for its range, payload capacity, and resilience. Maintained by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, Ontario, this Lancaster is a living tribute to the crews who served. A sincere thank you to the Museum for granting us an exclusive experience that few get to enjoy.

Leaving Canada Touched, Moved and Inspired

The Wings of Opportunity Foundation's Cross-Canada flight served as an inspiration for young aspiring aviators  from coast to coast to believe in their dreams. After every landing, we met passionate individuals whose stories reminded us why the work we do is so vital. Each stop along the way brought stories of resilience, passion, and hope—reminding us that the next generation of aviators is ready to take flight, and that the sky is truly not the limit, but just the beginning.
